Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • He opened the double doors closing them gently behind him before he began to walk away from the school with a smile on his face and a feeling of being rather proud of himself. The male had been visiting a school to talk to them about being a medical doctor or nurse, most of them had seemed interested by crowding around him while the rest had sniggered in the background making comments or just acting bored like they were falling asleep. He didn’t mind too much though as Tristen knew that being a nurse or going into the medical profession wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea, it hadn’t been when he was younger so he tended not to judge the group of teenagers that he had spoken too.
Tristen sighed gently before clicking the lock to his car which he slid into frowning slightly; he placed his forms and stuff beside him which he placed on the passenger seat while he wondered where he was going to next. The male didn’t need to be at work until later on that night and decided that he didn’t want to be at home where he was on his own yet again. He tapped his fingers on the wheel a few times before deciding to just drive and see where he ended up. The male drove down the street making sure that he stayed to the speed limit and so that he wouldn’t miss any nice places to go. He had been in London for most of his life but had only been exploring the city for a couple of years and that was usually with his job so he couldn’t exactly go and look around the places he went too.
The male parked outside a restaurant that he had passed twice deciding whether he was hungry or not and the answer had been that he was. Tristen walked into the place where he ordered one of their burgers, sure they were full of fat but the male was fairly athletic inside and out of world so he would soon burn the thing off. Besides he liked the taste of them, he had grown up around fast food especially at Uni it was the most common thing bought by students at least that’s what various studies had said. He took a seat by the window so that he could see outside into the fairly well lit sky although clouds were drifting over in the distance, he liked being outside he liked to breathe fresh air after being locked in hospitals most of the time.
Tristen more often than not did the night shift as he was the type of guy who would go to bed late and get up late, it was just the type of person that he was. He had always been like it even as a small child as he was fairly big on horror films which were only shown late at night hence his sleep patterns. His mind drifted as he looked through the thick glass window beside him after taking a bit into his food, he had nothing to do, not that he had anyone to do it with anyway making him sigh gently. Another much into his burger aloud the flavour to ooze down his throat into his chest which took roughly about seven seconds, a strange fact that he had found out when he started training to be a nurse.
That was the one thing that majorly annoyed him about his job, it was the name that he had been given. A nurse was typically seen as a female job and thus less dominant in the medical profession as well as in the world in general but Tristen didn’t really like the fact that they were seen that way. He had a couple of other male friends who were also nurses but one was gay so didn’t mind it at all while the other hadn’t told his parents what he did for a living, he just told them that he had a job. Tristen had found it pretty stupid to lie about a thing like that but it was beside the point he felt that he had to hide it from people because of stereotypes, he didn’t think it was fair for anybody. “Life” he muttered to himself with a raised eyebrow

------------------------------------------ A WITHERED PAST AND A BLURRY FUTURE M Y H E A R T ' S O N A N A U C T I O NIT GOES OUT TO THE HIGHEST BID ------------------------------------------ Dusty trudged slowly down the dingy streets of London. God she hated the place sometimes. Why she'd thought it would be a good idea to stay on at uni there, she did not know. But it was too late to go back on that decision now, after having spent a year there. Studies weren't even as hard as she'd expected, but they did require a lot of attention. She could do that easily, especially now that she didn't have a boyfriend.
For some reason, she had a weird craving for some really disgusting, greasy, fatty foods. Admittedly, she did love the stuff, much as she tried to avoid it. But one burger couldn't make any difference, really. She'd just go to the gym and burn it off again, just like she always did.
The only place that she knew around this area that sold burgers was a restaurant not far away. Yeah, it wasn't the nicest restaurant in the world, but then, what nice restaurant sold burgers anyway? They weren't exactly fine dining..
She stumbled over a crack in the floor, landing unfortunately right in the middle of a large puddle. She shook off her leg in disgust, and looked don at her shoes. She was wearing high lace up leather boots, more like the goth kind that the slut kind.. but not quite. Luckily her black skinny hadn't been affected, and neither had her band tee or black leather jacket. She did love this outfit, but sometimes felt as though she wore it far too often..
She arrived at the restaurant, feet feeling uncomfortable and cold from the splash of water, and ordered a chicken burger. Chicken, not beef. She really hated most meat except chicken.. and bacon.
Dusty took the burger as it was served to her, and trudged away to sit at a table. It was a small table for two, and on the table next to her was an exceptionally cute guy. She brushed it off for a minute, thinking back to her ex boyfriend, imagining how he had looked when he'd died. She smiled, thinking about how her life had changed since he'd died. If it hadn't have happened, things would be different right now, and she wouldn't be there, eating a burger. Everything happens for a reason, and getting hung up on the past was stupid, so she looked towards the future.
Taking a bite from the burger, she sighed deeply, delving into the depths of her mind once more. She thought about the guy sat near her and how cute he was. Yeah, she would like to get to know somebody as cute as him. So why wasn't she talking to him? It wasn't as if she'd be losing anything by tapping him on the shoulder and saying hi.. She really needed to change her attitude, and really wanted to meet some new friends. She just.. wasn't very good at it.
Finally plucking up the courage, she stood up quickly, burger still in hand. The chair clattered to the floor when she stood up, falling back into the chair behind it, thus pushing the table next to her back. A dish fell to the floor. God she was so clumsy, and now looked like an idiot. Luckily it wasn't the table that the cute guy had been sat at that she'd messed up; there wasn't actually anybody sitting there.
She laughed, and walked around the pick up the dish, but there was already a waiter there, who she apologized to, and instead turned to pick up the chair. He was looking at her. Good. She smiled at him, and shrugged.
"Well, that was a bit of a fail," she said, then chewed on her burger for a while. "Anyway, the reason I stood up was to come talk to you," she continued, and walked to stand behind the chair opposite him on his table. "Mind if I sit here?" asked Dusty, really hoping she didn't get rejected after having knocked over a chair..

Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • He hardly heard the door open or anyone enter the shop where he was happily sitting eating the burger, he felt extremely guilty that he was stuffing his face with really unhealthy food but he was a nurse so he was allow. At least that was the excuse he kept telling himself in order to make himself feel better about it not that he would stop eating it of course, had had paid for it and if wasn’t one for wasting money. He didn’t get paid enough for what he did, all the doctors and nurses didn’t but he wasn’t complaining.
That said he did heard the scuffle of a chair and a dish hit the floor drawing his attention to the female a few feet away, he tried to hide the laugh that came from his throat yet wasn’t completely successful making hide his face with his hands. Slowly taking them away he looked again as the female came closer where she began to speak to him making Tristen look behind him to make sure yet when he could see no one else he returned his view back to the female and gave a large smile at him. He hardly got spoken to anymore, ever since the storm it felt different when he went out, it was like he had to check for danger where ever he went, sometimes it was hard to do but usually he felt safe like he did at that moment in the small restaurant with the female still looking at him. “Yeah sure, I like being talked too funnily enough. Do I just look like a loner then?” he told her smiling “You normally make an entrance like that?”
He pointed over to the broken pieces of glass that the waiter was throwing into the bin making Tristen show a small laugh again as he dropped his burger onto the table before wiping his hands on each other. He really couldn’t believe just how greasy some foods could be, he didn’t like it and knew that eventually he would have to stop going to fast food restaurants all the time. The male smirked yet returned his gaze to the attractive female opposite him, the male stared her up and down briefly taking her figure in and grinning to himself, she wasn’t someone that he had met before he would of remembered her for sure. No one could of forgotten her even if they had been made brain dead they would still remember.
Tristen glanced at the burger that she held making him feel better for stuffing his face. He looked around seeing only a few people around them so leaned into his chair relaxing slightly as he took in the female and where she had came from, he wanted to know about the female yet didn’t want to push her into answering. He knew from personal experience that people who pressured others into talking were often left along and with her around he didn’t want her to get scared off so decided to keep his questions short and sweet. “I’m Tristen by the way” he told her leaving a pause for her to say her own name before continuing “You come here a lot? I haven’t seen you around?”
He clicked his fingers with a chuckle as one of the waiters came over before asking him about the drinks that he had yet found out that they only sold fizzy so asked him to bring two glasses over as he wiped out a few coins from his pocket to pay for them. The drinks were connected to the table a few minutes later and Tristen thanked the man before passing one over to the female who was opposite him. He held his hand up to show that she didn’t need to pay for it and took a quite bite from his burger now eating slightly more nicely that he had been moment before she had entered. “I know it’s not much but” he started before giving a shrug to finish the sentence.

------------------------------------------ A WITHERED PAST AND A BLURRY FUTURE M Y H E A R T ' S O N A N A U C T I O NIT GOES OUT TO THE HIGHEST BID ------------------------------------------ “Yeah sure, I like being talked too funnily enough. Do I just look like a loner then?" Dusty chuckled. She wasn't sure if she was actually supposed to laugh at what he'd said or not, but in the past she'd found that there was never any harm in laughing. It's better than not laughing at something that wasn't supposed to be funny..
She sat down opposite him, looking down at her hands, which were really greasy, and had left a grease mark on the chair behind her, not that there weren't many more there before hers.
"Erm, well no. You're cute, is all. Haven't spoken to any cute guys in a while. And, well, you're sat on your own, and so was I. So I guess we both looked like loners if you're putting it that way." She smiled, and tapped her fingers on the table - a bad habit that she'd picked up from her ex boyfriend.
“You normally make an entrance like that?”
She nodded, laughing half-heartedly. "Yeah, pretty much. Except usually I break a limb along with it. You're very lucky you didn't have to take me to hospital," she joked, grabbing a napkin from the table and wiping her mouth and hands on it.
“I’m Tristen by the way”
She nodded, smiling, and really wishing she hadn't just taken another bite from her burger, as more grease dripped down her wrist, and her mouth was now full. She covered her mouth with her hand. "Dusty. Nice to meet you."
“You come here a lot? I haven’t seen you around?”
She finished her bite, and wished she had a drink. It felt weird having nothing to drink beside her.. she always did. "Nu uh. To be honest, I hate the place.. just for some reason felt like a burger. I sorta feel like I recognize you, you know. Like, I don't think I've met you.. but your face is familiar. Are you a student?" She searched in the back of her mind, trying to remember where she knew his face. He didn't really look like the student type..
She watched as Tristen ordered drinks, and laughed shortly and loudly when they came over with drinks. He motioned that she didn't need to pay. “I know it’s not much but"
"Oh, is this how you get girls, then? Order them some really fatty drink?" she took the drink all the same, and took a sip from it, not feeling guilty that a stranger had bought her a drink and she'd accepted it. "Just kidding, by the way. Thanks, I was really thirsty."

Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • He nearly coughed on his food when the female said that he was cute, all the same his eyes darted towards the females face and a grin appeared yet again although this time it was a much more shy type of grin. It wasn’t that he hated being complemented far from it, it was just that when it happened he often had a comeback or a smart thing to say yet in that greasy restaurant with a burger in one hand and the drink in the other he didn’t have a thing that would work, he still didn’t know the female very well after all, to him she was still a stranger at least at that moment she was. “Lucky me that you fell towards me” he said with a small chuckle stretching as he did so “Dusty is it? Well nice to meet you Dusty”
Tristen couldn’t help but smirk when the grease fell from the female’s mouth and onto her wrists making him feel slightly sorry for the girl, she almost seemed to attract bad luck or bad things to happen. He didn’t believe in curses or anything like that but if he had to pick someone that had a curse then it would have to be Dusty, she had been clumsier in the last few minutes then he had been during his university days which was a very hard thing to beat. When he was younger Tristen had liked to drink a lot, he wasn’t an alcoholic it was just that at one point he had gotten in with the wrong crowd, not that he had stayed in that group for long but still he didn’t like to think back to how his life could have planned out. If one little thing of been different than at that moment he might not of even been in the same area. “You recognise me?” he repeated frowning slightly as doubt echoed from his voice “Are you sure? I know I would remember you. No I’m not a student; I’m a nurse or paramedic however you like to look at it. I tend to do both nowadays”
The male watched her drink her drink and waited allowing silence to fill the room, it relaxed him and calmed his thoughts down as the quiet washed over him. That was until a bunch of people walked in chatting and laughing to themselves erupting their noise onto the quiet restaurant like a volcano when it caused its destruction on a small island. It was a strange thing to compare to but at that exact moment it was all that Tristen could think of so that factor would have to do, it wasn’t like anyone else could hear his thoughts anyway. Unless of course the storm had gave someone telepathy, now he wouldn’t be too happy about that at all. “No I just tend to buy a burger but you have yours already” he said with a laugh biting into his own afterwards which he was slowly losing his taste for “Its fine I aim to please Dusty”
Without thinking he grabbed his drink and took a few sips allowing the fizzy to pass down his throat which burned slightly as he did so, sure he should take it more slowly so that he didn’t hurt his throat yet he wanted to leave the bar as soon as he could hopefully with the female by his side. That said it looked like the wind was picking up so he put down his half drunken glass down onto the table before wiping his mouth with one of the clothes that were scattered on the table he was at. He hadn’t noticed them before Dusty had used one but he wasn’t a very observant person, not at that moment with everything going on around him with the powers and the constant feeling of being different. “So are you a student?” he asked gently looking at his burger before throwing the half eaten thing away “Yeah too greasy for me. How’s yours?”
Sure he didn’t like wasting money and other people could of eaten it but the male wasn’t in the mood for eating greasy food that would probably end up killing him, that was the nurse side of him talking. The cons of being a medical worker, he knew everything that could harm him and usually it was the good things in life like fast food and fizzy drinks, not that he was going to tell Dusty that. Women were affected by calories and the such more than men were however Tristen liked to keep his appearance and his fitness at its best, he had do for his career. “You know anywhere less greasy?” he wondered staring at the female as he pointed to the various marks of grease and fat that were all over the table next to them “Unless you prefer being here?”

------------------------------------------ A WITHERED PAST AND A BLURRY FUTURE M Y H E A R T ' S O N A N A U C T I O NIT GOES OUT TO THE HIGHEST BID ------------------------------------------ You recognise me? Are you sure? I know I would remember you.” Dusty nodded, taking a bite of her burger, half wishing that it was smaller so that it didn't take her so long to eat it. “No I’m not a student; I’m a nurse or paramedic however you like to look at it. I tend to do both nowadays”
Then suddenly it hit Dusty. She'd probably seen him around the hospital. She always did tend to notice the male nurses, especially the cute ones. That was definitely the only up side of breaking bones all the time.
"That would be why, then. You know I'm pretty clumsy?" she looked over at the broken shards of glass on the floor that the wait was just finishing cleaning up. "Yeah, well I break stuff all the time. I spend more time in the hospital than I do at home." She shrugged, thinking nothing of it, and wiped her hands again on the napkin, trying to clear the bulk of the grease from her finger tips.
“No I just tend to buy a burger but you have yours already” She laughed hard, thinking that was a really stupid thing to say for some reason. “Its fine I aim to please, Dusty”
"And buying a burger is so much better than buying a fizzy drink?" She chuckled, and finished off the remains of her burger as Tristen threw his away. Obviously he was a slower eater than her, and her burger had been slightly smaller, anyway. She couldn't help but feel like a bit of a pig all the same. She didn't particularly enjoy it after all of that craving she'd had. It was a waste of money, and unnecessary calories.
“So are you a student?”
"Yep. Although, I rarely attend my classes.. especially recently. I haven't felt in the mood at all, so I just stay home and write essays and shit.. fun life of mine." She shrugged, and looked down at her fingers, then pulled some hand sanitizer from her pocket and rubbed it on her fingers, then passed the bottle over to him in case he wanted to use it. "What's it like being a nurse? I thought women did that job.." she mused, then wondered if he'd be hurt by this comment. "No offense. I don't really know anything about the profession."
“Yeah too greasy for me. How’s yours?”
"To be honest, it wasn't as nice as I'd anticipated. The first bite was fine, but by then I was full." She was pretty glad she'd finished it, in fact. Dusty wrote herself a mental note never to return.
“You know anywhere less greasy? Unless you prefer being here?”
"Ugh, anywhere but here. I'm not really that familiar with this area.. so no. Why, d'you wanna go some place else? I vote anywhere but a park.. I used to love parks, but now they kinda creep me out." She thought back to when she'd been hit by lightning, and wondered why she was still alive. Things had felt weird since then. Maybe the bolt had messed with her brain, or something. It was a fun experience though; how many people could say they'd been hit by lightning in their life? She'd probably end up like that guy in 'Benjamin Button', who only ever speaks about all the times he'd been hit by lightning in his life..

Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • “The hospital? Oh I’m sorry to hear that. My dad goes there all of the time, he hates it. Told my mum that he doesn’t like the smell or how the doctors think that they are always right even though we said that they knew what they were doing. He even asked me to perform surgery on him at one point.” he said with a serious expression and a slight frown which went with the look “You don’t go there on purpose do you?” He didn’t mean to say it but the words just seemed to escape from his mouth and into the air, instantly the male regretted it and held his hands to his mouth like it would take them back even though he knew that they never would. Tristen stared at the female waiting for a slap or for her to yell at him or for her to have a go at him for saying cruel words. He hated saying things like that as they often came back to bite him on the ass, it wasn’t very helpful at all “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that”
He laughed when she said about the fatty drink being better than a burger which was a fairly good comment, although Tristen found most things amusing. He took a more serious tone however when she spoke about missing her lessons recently making him frown in question to the comments that she had come out with. He was a fairly nosy guy and had gotten that off of his mother, she had been the type who would look over one fence to chat to a neighbour about the other one and then the next day talk to the other neighbour that she had spoken to the day before. It still made the male laugh every time he thought of his mother hanging over fences chattering away to the people next door. “What do you mean the right mood? Tired?” he suggested with a small shrug afterwards before he let out a smile and yelled slightly “Hey!! It happens to be a guy’s job too for your information and I don’t like to brag but I am quite good at it”
Tristen smirked at her showing that he was joking about the last part, he wasn’t the nest on the time far from it, he knew of one woman who had rescued seven people from a fire on her own and saved each of their lives by placing them in the recovery position without any training what so ever. She was the real hero while Tristen just worked there it wasn’t like he had done anything that spectacular except to move things with his mind, not that he would share that with the female. She didn’t look like she had a power, not that there was a typical look or anything but a useful power for her would probably be to heal after the amount of times that she had said she’d been to hospitals. “Not good for me” he said talking about the food yet scratched his head as he thought about where to go “We can go whether you like, I’m the type of guy who will follow, you say I follow. That’s the deal that’s the plan so get thinking Dusty”
He laughed at the comment thinking about where they could go apart from the park which she didn’t seem to like for some reason although he didn’t ask why, he had asked a lot of questions already and didn’t really want to say a lot more. Tristen leaned back in his chair when he hummed to himself thinking about what to do and where to go, he didn’t really go around London a lot so didn’t have any good ideas on what to do. The only place he could think of was a rooftop on some apartments which is where he practised his powers out by moving objects and trying to bend them or get them to change their shape with him mind. He had seen a female character on a movie change a gun into some device that started to burn people, it was something about a school and mutants with powers or something along those lines, he couldn’t really remember what it had been about.

------------------------------------------ A WITHERED PAST AND A BLURRY FUTURE M Y H E A R T ' S O N A N A U C T I O NIT GOES OUT TO THE HIGHEST BID ------------------------------------------ “The hospital? Oh I’m sorry to hear that. My dad goes there all of the time, he hates it. Told my mum that he doesn’t like the smell or how the doctors think that they are always right even though we said that they knew what they were doing. He even asked me to perform surgery on him at one point.”
Dusty shrugged. She couldn't imagine why anyone would hate the hospital; it was a place for healing, although, it could be argued that it is also a place for death. Death was a natural process, anyway. Doctors sort of prolonged that.. so yeah, she could see it from that point of view. But the smell? The doctors behaviour? She'd never found that to be a problem before. Perhaps his dad had had some bad experiences there. Asking his son to do the surgery.. that seemed stupid, especially since Tristen appeared so young. Maybe she was wrong, but she'd definitely say early twenties.
“You don’t go there on purpose do you?”
She stared at him, wide-eyed, not responding for a while. Had she really been giving the impression of somebody who would purposefully put themselves in hospital? That was the image she constantly tried to avoid.
"No way. I'm just so used to going there now that I barely notice when I break a bone. I swear.. they must all be so fragile by now," she joked, still sort of annoyed that he'd asked her that question, but letting it go, since he probably meant no harm. He was just curious.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that”
"No worries. It'll take more than that to offend me," she said. It was very true that she wasn't easily offended. She'd learnt to put up with it after years of being called names. Usually she was more offended by people calling other people names that actually being called those names herself.
“What do you mean the right mood? Tired?”
She shook her head quickly and sharply. "No. My boyfriend just killed himself so things don't feel the same." She paused, realizing that probably sounded like she was fishing for attention, which she definitely wasn't. She really wasn't a huge fan of attention. "And yeah, you're sorry he died, hope I'm okay, blah blah blah. Don't bother saying that, it bores me."
“Hey!! It happens to be a guy’s job too for your information and I don’t like to brag but I am quite good at it” He smiled.
She chuckled, and raised her eyebrows. "Okay, sorry," she apologized in a joking tone, though she really did mean the apology if it had actually offended him. "I'm glad you're good at it. Next time I get a fatal injury I'll request you." She smirked, and flipped her hair.
“We can go whether you like, I’m the type of guy who will follow, you say I follow. That’s the deal that’s the plan so get thinking Dusty” Ugh, she hated people like that. Couldn't he just make a decision? She didn't know this area since she was from East London, so how was she supposed to know where to go?
"Right. Well let's just get out of here and see where the roads take us, because I don't know anything around here really. I'm surprised I even remembered how to find this place.."
She stood up, being careful not to knock over a chair again, and walked out of the door, hoping he was following closely behind. If he wasn't, then clearly he was just another name on a list of people that didn't like her, so she wouldn't mind all that much. She was used to the rejection.. She doubted that he was. Somebody with such cute eyes as his could never get turned down.

Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • He could tell from her expression that he had said the completely wrong thing yet couldn’t think of any other thing to say so decided to just keep his mouth shut. She was staring straight at him with her eyes wide open probably in shock that he had been such an idiot, Tristen couldn’t believe that he had acted like that himself, he just wanted to crawl into a hole bury himself and die. He could feel the tension fill the room slightly stopping him for saying anything yet making him more scared at what she was going to say hence why when she opened her mouth it was a shock to what actually came from it. “With the whole being clumsy thing?” he asked trying to smile so that he looked happy but didn’t look like he was happy that the female often got hurt “It must be a pain”
Tristen grinned at her next comment yet still wasn’t sure if she was saying it just so that he didn’t feel so bad, he often used that technique when he was at the hospital with his patients. He was glad however that she was hard skinned as most of the people he talked to were either furious or depressed and crying, he hated the emotional; side of working where he did when he had to tell people that their loved one was dead. He remembered when he a family of four come in before after crashing their car into a river after being hit by a truck, the father had died instantly from the impact, while his daughter had died in the car, the cause of death was drowning. She had only been fifteen. The other two figures who had been in the car was a young mother in her thirties and a small boy who was six year old. She had died on the table during surgery; the boy had been left on his own with Tristen the one telling him about his family. For some reason there wasn’t a lot of people around, he couldn’t remember why exactly but Tristen had been the one called upon to speak to the small male It had nearly broken his heart, watching the small boy having to cry for the loss of his parents when instead he should have been at home making them run after him. The pain that he felt from the child but he couldn’t do a lot for the small boy who seemed to cry for days afterwards which was expected yet still painful to experience.
Although tears glistened in his eyes he managed to hide them away, he was an emotional person and didn’t mind showing his emotions but in the place that he was in with an unfamiliar person he wasn’t comfortable with that at all. His tears stopped forming when he heard was she had said about her boyfriend killing himself which was a really bad conversation killer. He was about to apologise feeling more guilty then he had done before yet she stopped him from saying anything causing him to bow his head slightly as he listened to her, she was obviously sick of people apologising to her about the situation. “Sure, I will come and grab you” he said in response to her requesting him next time she hurt herself.
Tristen got up watching the female opposite him in the corner of his eye just in case she began to trip up again, that said he didn’t want her to trip up he just didn’t want to miss it if she did so. The male then followed her outside where a gentle wind blew across the pair sending a slight chill to his skin. Tristen didn’t mind though and walked over to Dusty where he walked up beside her so that they were only centimetres away from each other. He however turned slightly to face her so that he could read her expressions and see how she get instead of saying the wrong thing again and not knowing about it. “Let’s go” he said with a smile as he plunged his hands in his pockets and took a few steps into the road not seeing the car turn around the corner.

------------------------------------------ A WITHERED PAST AND A BLURRY FUTURE M Y H E A R T ' S O N A N A U C T I O NIT GOES OUT TO THE HIGHEST BID ------------------------------------------ “With the whole being clumsy thing?” he asked trying to smile so that he looked happy but didn’t look like he was happy that the female often got hurt “It must be a pain”
She nodded. "Yeah, sorta. I used to hate it, but honestly I'm used to it. I just don't have the balance and coordination of your average person, and that's who I am." Dusty smiled, and hoped that she wouldn't do anything else clumsy in that day, although it was very likely that she would.
“Sure, I will come and grab you”
"Gee thanks," she giggled, "Now I feel safe." She pulled her leather jacket tighter around her body as she left the shop, protecting herself against the chill of the outdoor wind.
“Let’s go” said Tristen, placing his hands in his pockets, and walking out into the middle of the road.
Dusty looked up in that instant to see a car coming around the corner. Didn't he know about 'stop, look, and listen?'. She didn't really think about what the car could mean for a while. It often took her a while to process things, so it was only a few moments later that she realized that this car could in fact hit him, and kill him. On a whim, she lunged forward, planning to grab his hand and pull him from the road, or push him out of the way, or anything. Obviously, Dusty being Dusty, she tripped over a loose paving slab, and landed flat on her face, somehow managing to cut her hand on the way down.
"Tristen, move!" she cried, since he still didn't seem to have noticed the car, and it hadn't seen him, either. Time had moved quite slowly for a few moments, because Dusty was panicking. Maybe she was over reacting, and this car wouldn't even come close to hitting him. But she didn't want to see somebody else get hurt, and since her boyfriend had died she did worry about losing other people, too. Although there weren't many people that she could lose.
Dusty pushed herself up from the ground again, getting her cut dirty and probably making it worse. She tried to ignore the pain. She was dizzy from standing up so quickly, and the next thing that happened, she didn't see. All she saw was the burr of a car driving past. She hadn't heard a scream. But maybe he'd been hurt.. The head rush and the car were both gone, and now she could clearly see what had happened..

Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been drawing all weekend, rofl. xD
