- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - aren't you worried that you're P L A Y I N G W I T H F I R E ?- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Cold, ocean blue eyes stared numbly at the clear hospital doors, still trying to decide if she should she should enter or not. Rome didn't want to. She detested hospitals; the smell, the atmosphere, the colours of the walls - everything about it was disgusting. Sighing behind grit teeth, Rome reached out behind her and grabbed a bar of chocolate from the back pocket of her shorts, immediately opening it and taking a bite. As the caffeine flowed through her blood stream, she relaxed a little. Rome flexed her fingers, trying to feel more comfortable behind her fingerless gloves. Most days, she adored those flame retardant accessories. But not today. The leather clung to her skin, and if it wasn't for her power, she would have ripped it out long ago. As the doors in front of her swung open, her attention was brought back to the hospital.
How had she ended up here again?
Her day had been pretty normal to start off with. Skipped uni, walked around the estate, met a few chavs, burnt a few chavs, went to the local store and had returned home with a bounty of chocolate in her arms. Normal.
Well, normal until her phone had began to ring.
You see, whenever Rome's mobile rang, something shit always happened. Whether it was because she was just a total technophobe, or simply because of bad fucking luck, whenever her phone rarely got called, something absolutely crap occurred in her life. Eyeing her phone that was currently sat on her bed with narrowed eyes, Rome cautiously walked towards it and picked it up. She let it ring for 4 more rings, before finally accepting the call; the time taken for her to find the answer button taking up at least 3 more rings.
"Hello?" "Miss Rome Pandora?" "Yeah?" "This is the hospital calling, I'm afraid i have some bad news.. It's about Isobel Pandora, your moth--"
Rome quickly hung up on the phone, and threw it across the room. For fuck sake. What did her mother want, now? Feeling annoyed, Rome sat promptly down on the chair in front of her dresser, and shoved open a drawer, and took out some bright red nail varnish. Quickly unscrewing the lid, she took hold of the brush and roughly painted over her previously white nails as if they had offended her; because they had.
When her phone began to ring once again, Rome stood and simply walked out, her black leather jacket in her hand, the ends just trailing across the floor.
So why was she here?
The annoyance she had felt earlier in the day came back twice as strong, her mind disgruntled about the fact that her mother still had this kind of effect on her.
The mention of a hospital had made her curious. Rome was simply curious. That was why she came here. Yeah, that was it. Rome swiftly broke down her actions into simple reasons, looking over the fact that her mother was a big part of the equation she was trying to solve. Her mother could go rot in hell and die for all she cared.
But maybe that was why she was in the hospital?
Perhaps she was dying, a slow death of course; lung cancer? Any kind of cancer? A deadly disease that they couldn't cure? Rome snorted; as if. Her mother was like a fucking cockroach; nothing could kill her. And trust me, Rome had tried. Well, she had to go in now, didn't she? She couldn't just fucking dawdle around here forever. She would just walk in there like anything, see what her mother was in there for, and if Rome found her unconscious, and the only thing keeping her alive a life support machine, then she'd just switch it off. Then walk back out. Simple.
Rome smirked.
Perhaps her bad luck had ran out.
Finishing her chocolate bar, she threw the empty packet onto the ground, shoved her gloved hands into the pockets of her jacket and strode in, her wavy hair flying wisps of strands behind her face. She marched up to the front desk, and leaned an elbow on the surface, leaning forward ever so slightly. "Room for Isobel Pandora? I'm her supposed daughter -- Rome Pandora." The nurse, a little surprised at the sharp tone in the visitor's voice, swiftly searched her computer and mumbled a number. Rome simply raised a freshly waxed brow, and walked to Room 203.
Before she even reached the door, she knew that this was a bad idea. She could hear her mother's voice even from the corridor. That high, bitchy tone was recognizable anywhere. Her lips twisted into a snarl, Rome took one more step -- just a small step -- to look inside the room. The first thing she saw was her mother's form, sitting up straight on her hospital bed. The next thing she saw was the recognition in her mother's eyes -- same eyes as Rome's, in fact -- and then the disapproving twist of her lips. Fucker. Why'd she fucking come? Her mother wasn't even bloody dying.
Fucker.
Rome turned swiftly on her heel, the anger inside her boiling up. As she walked, she pulled her gloves off harshly; the feel of the material on her skin was just annoying now. Shoving them into her pockets, she ran out the entrance, and gripped the metal bar in front of her that protected her from falling off the concrete steps.
She stood like that a few minutes, just letting her anger boil over. Her eyes were squeezed shut in silent fury, her brows pushed together as she tried to concentrate. When she opened her eyes, she saw the metal bar underneath her hands had turned a bright red -- nearly white -- colour. Well fuck. Hesitantly, she touched the surface of the bar with the tip of her fingers. Warm. That was all it felt to her. Warm. But to others, she knew that it would be agonizingly hot. Rome shrugged. Not her problem.
Hastily, she reached out and grabbed her gloves, sighing as she pulled them back on for about the fifth time that day. Rolling her eyes, she leaned back, taking care not to let her clothes touch the metal bar, and gazed off into the distance. She was never answering her fucking phone again. See what i told you about bad luck? Rome narrowed eyes slightly, her mind in deep thought.
Fuck this shit.

Your arms like towers tower over me. • • • We are broken,• • •
What must we do to restore our • • •innocence?• • • Tristen sighed deeply as he walked into the building covered in blood. The male had just picked up a stab victim who he had had to look after and try to keep conscious, the wound however didn’t stop bleeding for a while and caused it to go onto the males clothes, not that he minded too much it came with the job after all. All that he cared about was that, all he was worried about was the female and he hoped that she would be ok, the wound hadn’t been too deep or that long. His medical advice was that she would survive but with human forms nobody could say for sure until it was all over. That didn’t stop him from going to the desk and asked how she was however and the female behind smiled, she knew that Tristen asked about every patient that he had brought in and she didn’t mind to give him the details. “She’s going to be fine” announced the female with a smile. “Phew. Good I thought she would be but wanted to make sure” “You shouldn’t worry about them all; you have a good heart Tristen” “Thanks” he said smiling as he walked way to the changing rooms.
He reached the lockers and walked in the male section to change, he had just finished his shift and was in a good mind to go out that night had have fun then thought back to how bad he would be in the morning after a night out. Tristen sighed yet again yet this time in annoyance while he quickly changed into his dark blue slightly ripped jeans, a large belt with the words danger do not enter around it, something that his brother had thought was funny when he bought it for him one birthday, a short sleeved white shirt and a jacket that he slid on placing his hands into the pockets after locking his locker up for the night. Although it was a hospital and the staff should be trustworthy things still went missing and Tristen wasn’t taking any chances with his possessions.
The male stepped out of the locker room where he slowly made him way back to reception yet was overtook by a female who charged past in a rather bad mood, unfortunately it was a common site at the hospital. Tristen blanked the meeting out of his mind as he reached the reception yet again to wave his friend off at the desk. She smiled at him and waved to the male as he turned to leave and finally go home which he felt that he hadn’t seen for decades although he knew of course that that wasn’t true. At least he hoped that it wasn’t or he had really lost track of time.
Heat waves collided with the male as he reached the exit causing him to look upwards where the heater stood near the front door, it was designed to warm people up as they entered the hospital. That said it did more use warming people up as they left rather than when they entered, it was technology something that Tristen understood and used greatly but not something that he would be able to fix like the heater which to him seemed to have broken. He didn’t really care too much though as the twin doors opened up beside him revealing the outside air which quickly filled his lungs. “I needed that” he muttered to himself clutching the insides of his pockets with his hands.
Walking forward he found himself down a cobbled street that echoed each of his footsteps, he felt like he was on the soap that his mum watched, Coronation street or something similar to that. Tristen couldn’t really remember what it was called seeing as he hadn’t watched TV with his parents for a few years which he loved, he liked his independence which he got a lot of when he lived on his own as well it was just him. Of course he socially missed the company that he had received when he had lived at home not that ever expressed that to anyone though.
It was at that point in time that he remembered that he had left the dirty uniform in his locket which he needed to take home and wash the blood off of. Tristen mentally hit himself as he spun around to go back into the hospital, one of the cleanest buildings in the world at least that’s what they were suppost to be, not that he had seen anything dirty, far from it the information was just something that he could remember since his training that he had done all those years ago in order to get the dream job that he wanted. It was a lot of work but if you wanted something badly like Tristen did as a nurse then you would work your ass off which was exactly what he was doing, had been doing all his life.
Returning to the hospital he saw the same female that had charged past him earlier holding onto a metal bar, she looked even worse than she had done before, more fierce, more anger. He didn’t know what it was but something was telling him to talk to her, that she needed someone to talk too and he was the only person around to do so. Tristen walked quietly over to the female approaching her so that she would see him coming, he wondered what her problem was yet didn’t really want to ask too many details in case he upset her. That said he needed to know a few in order to try and help the female who as he got closer too he realised was rather good looking, in fact she was stunning. “ Woah” he moaned aloud in shock of her features which was when he made himself clear “Hey sorry I noticed that you seem upset. Are you ok? I thought I could help you if you want. My names Tristen”
No really thinking that it was a great impression he tried to cover it up with a gentle smile and a golden glow trying to show her that he was listening to her. Not that she looked like she would really care she looked far too angry for that although he didn’t know what had happened so couldn’t say. Tristen decided to just wait for her to speak and see what the problem was.
Give us life again. Cause we just wanna be whole.Tagged ! Rome Pandora Lyrics ! We Are Broken by Paramore Credit ! Broadwayislove@CautionNotes ! Sorry for the wait hope it’s alright

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - aren't you worried that you're P L A Y I N G W I T H F I R E ?- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Rome was in deep thought. In her mind, she was killing her mother. And she was surrounded by huge, chunks of chocolate, urging her on. To tell the truth, she was slightly disturbed that the chocolate had eyes, arms and legs. Highly amused, but still disturbed all the same. Taking a deep breath, she focused on the actual killing part. Her thoughts turned to a more, bloody and violent direction, and she smirked. This was helping her relax her mind, in so many ways.
Should she be worried that she had the capability to think of such horrific things in great detail?
Probably.
Did she give a shit 'bout it?
Nah, not really.
When the chocolate-men -- half chocolate, half men -- started to throw chocolate covered weapons to Rome and started to shout abuse at her mother, she thought that it was probably about time to open her eyes. Regrettably, she forced herself to shove the image into the back of her mind, and briefly toyed with the idea of creating chocolate-men. She shook her head. Now she was just talking crazy.
Some guy appeared in her line of vision, and it appeared that he was walking towards her. She rolled her eyes. She was not in the mood for talking. Or getting hit on. Or whatever the guy wanted from her. A few strands of her hair fell onto her face, and she brushed them roughly away, mumbling about investing in some hair grips. Frowning, she scraped her hair into a messy bun on the top of her hair, only slightly noticing the random strands falling back down. Just for a second, Rome wondered if she should go bald. Just shave it all off... It sounded like something she would do, to be honest. But no. Mind, fuck off.
When he got closer, it suddenly dawned on Rome that the bar -- that was still hot, by the way -- behind her should be hidden. Or something. Because he would ask questions about it, wouldn't he? Cursing under her breath, she looked around for something to cool down the bar. Nothing. Great. She wondered if she should cover it up with a blanket or some shit, but where the fuck was she going to get a blanket around here? This place was a hospital, wasn't it? Shouldn't they have blankets for the patients? For fuck sake. She was getting stressed for nothing.
“Woah”
It took Rome a few seconds to realise that it was the guy talking. She then turned so that her body was hiding the bar, and hoped that he couldn't feel the heat radiating off it. Smirking, she cocked a hip and rested a hand on said hip. If he felt the heat, then she'd just have to knock him out or something. Something bad, anyway.
“Hey sorry I noticed that you seem upset. Are you ok? I thought I could help you if you want. My names Tristen”
Rome paused for a moment, taking her time evaluating Tristen. He appeared, to be a sap. Basically, a chick with a dick. Arching her brow, she rested her hand on the bar, ignoring the hiss as her glove came in contact with the hot bar. Shit. She'd have to get new ones. Fucker.
Angry, she sighed, and peeled off the now ruined glove. "I'm fine. I don't need help. Especially from someone like you."
She had to admit, that came out harsher that she planned. But she was in a shitty mood. And she was a bitch. Which was her answer to everything, it seemed. It occurred to her that she hadn't said her own name, which was the normal etiquette for introductions. But just because he gave up his name, didn't mean she had to do the same. People only gave away their names if they wanted friends, or if they wanted to fuck, and Rome didn't want either, the first especially. Not with people like Tristen, who seemed to be one of those guys that had too many emotions that they could handle, and therefore wanted to talk with people about shit. Pfft. Please. If she wanted to talk, then she'd have made friends with some fat girl who had problems.
Rome thought that she should probably leave. But she was here first. And she rather liked it here. Well, not really, but she didn't feel like leaving.
Fuck no, if anyone was going to leave, it was him.
Impatiently, she turned to look at Tristen, raising a brow in question."Well? What ya waitin' for? Fuck off."
If he didn't leave, Rome was pretty sure she'd be turning him into one of her chocolate-men.
Or at the very least, she'd burn him to ashes.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - aren't you worried that you're P L A Y I N G W I T H F I R E ?- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - When someone was angry, the best thing to do was to leave said person alone, right? Right. Everyone knew that. So let me ask you this. Why the fuck, wasn't this douche walking the fuck away? Hmm?
Rome glared at the male, her ruined glove laying now on the floor. With one eyebrow raised, she flexed her fingers, her sharp eyes narrow with anger.
Fuck off. Fuck off. Fuck off.
"Someone like me?” Fuck off. Fuck off. Fu-- “What do you mean a guy or wait you mean a nurse right? Did someone let you down or maybe you lost a lost one. You have to understand we do everything that we can to help someone yet sometimes it’s just not enough”
For.
Fuck.
Sake.
Growling, she leaned forward, and jabbed an angry finger at Tristen's chest, pointing it so that her nail hit his skin, making sure that it hurt. "I don't give two shits that you're a nurse. Until now, i didn't even fucking realise you're a nurse. No one's fucking let me down, and i sure as hell haven't lost anyone. In fact, i wish i have. Stupid bitch won't die."
Fuming, she took a step forward, walking closer and closer to Tristen, her posture threatening, her mind frenzy with anger.
"You wan't to know why i don't want help from someone like you? It's because you want to talk. Share feelings. Prance around and sing, throwing fucking flowers everywhere. Like a fucking girl. The only type of guy i'm interested in, is the type of guy that likes to fuck, not the type of shitty guy that likes to fucking talk!
By now, she was close enough that their noses were touching, and she continued to glare, her mouth set in a snarl. Rant over, she calmed down a little, but not enough to back down. The heat in her now gloveless hand increased, and she knew that she didn't act soon, then she would reveal her power in front of this sappy stranger.
But you wanna know something?
She didn't give a shit.
She fucking didn't. All she cared about right now, was burning something, and burning something bad. But that didn't mean she wanted to kill somebody. Reason fought with anger, and she closed her eyes, taking a few deep breaths. Sighing, she stepped back, her hand still on hot, but not hot enough to create fire.
The male raised a brow at her throwing her glove on the floor, and he spoke in a questioning tone,
“Is that bar hot? It shouldn’t be you should be careful, you might get hurt”
Sneering, she replied in a mocking tone, her eyes narrowed. "No shit, Sherlock. Of course it's fucking hot. And i don't care if i get hurt. Besides, i can't get hurt. Shit like that don't hurt me no more." She crossed her arms and continued to glare at Tristen, her temper slowly calming down. Fuck, he was annoying. Why couldn't he just piss off and leave her be?
You know what?
If her words couldn't make him leave, then she'd scare the shit out of him.
Slowly, she peeled off her other glove and shoved it in her back pocket, flexing both hands with ease. Smirking, she looked at the nurse right in the eye, one brow delicately raised. "I'm telling you; piss off. Almost too naturally now, she let her hands alight, knowing that she didn't have to look down to check that right now, balls of swirling fire had just exploded out of her palms, and were now being cradled against her fingers. "I ain't fucking around."
"Either you go," She cocked her head ever so slightly to the left, "or you burn."
Seemed fair enough to her.
