Evan was still worried, but hopefully if he could talk about the whole thing to Marie, then things would calm down and he'd be okay. It was only getting hotter in the park. It was no longer like a chilly winter morning as it had been before, but it was getting hotter. Too hot for this time of day. The heat seemed to be radiating from his body, and he felt very uncomfortable, condensation and sweat forming on his light skin.
"When you said strange things were happening,"
[/b] Evan started, pausing for a moment. Was it really safe to go on? he'd tested the waters, and though they looked safe - so did the shadows until the monsters of the night revealed themselves. If he told Marie, there was no going back. Word about his power to control the flames would be out of his - uh, power, and he wouldn't be able to do anything if Marie betrayed his trust and told someone. Then again, as she said, she didn't seem like she'd have many people to tell. It certainly didn't seem like the people who's homework she was doing were particularly kind to her, or even listened to her as long as she did the world. "When you said strange things were happing... What exactly did you mean?"[/b] he continued. "It's just.. it's not the weather that's been strange since the storm,"[/b] He leant in now, getting closer to Marie and looking around. he was a little paranoid about this things, understandably. He didn't want the government to find out. perhaps he was overthinking it a little, but he didn't see it that way. He was making himself safe. "I-I've been able to do things.."[/b] He paused, and leaned over Marie, reaching onto the grass. He was going to have to be careful - but he had all this energy building up and he knew if he didn't release it soon then there was going to be an accident. He plucked a clump of deep green grass from the ground, and held it up in front of him, looking at it. A flash of orange brushed over Evan's eyes, the coloured lights dancing about on his cornea like fairies. He could do nothing now. There was a short pause, and then he looked down at the blades of grass. A fire was growing on them. And not a small one either. It was substantial, bigger than you'd expect could burn from a few small blades of grass. Especially since they were wet. or had been, only a moment ago. The flame spread down the blade of grass, and soon the hot orange flames were licking at Evan's hand. any normal person would have been burned, but he didn't move. he couldn't even feel the heat of the flames. it was nothing to him. a moment passed before he blew out the flame. "You need to tell me if there's something you know about the storm,"[/b] he said simply, hoping he hadn't just shown her his power for nothing. [/blockquote][/sub]

Marie blinked at him, looking at him from beneath her hair, watching his movements closely. The interest in her eyes wasn't easy for her to hide, because...well, she was interested. When he said he could do things...They way he was acting made her think that she wouldn't need to say anything, or ask anything, so she kept quiet, letting him speak at his own pace. If he was talking about what she thought he was talking about...it couldn't be easy. So she simply watched, not actually bothered by his closeness, to her surprise. She had imagined she would be, if she was to be honest with herself, but she guessed this meeting had progressed beyond 'awkward'. Perhaps into smething remotely enjoyable? No...quite enjoyable...really. She did frown, slightly, her forehead creasing a little at the flicker in his eyes (followed by a small blush as she realised tht she had been looking at his eyes), before looking down. And freezing.
"Oh goddess..." Her mouth had dropped open, the words breathed out in a tone of disbelief.
It was rude to stare, Marie knew that. She had known it all her life, it having been ingrained into her as a child, along with the 'it's rude to point' rule, and the 'it's rude to point out the obvious' rule. But she couldn't help but stare at Evan, her light brown eyes wide with a mixture of astonishment, fear...and a little bit of wonder, most probably. Because that was...that was fire. A real flame, burning more than should have been possible. Not that...this was really possible, really, but if it had been lit with matches, or a lighter, then the laws of physics and chemistry wouldn't have let it burn like that. And it was travelling down...towards his hand...
The fire was entrancing. She couldn't take her eyes away from it, the flames reflecting in her brown orbs. No...not just entrancing. beautiful.
She kept staring at the blade of grass, holding her breath even after the flame had been blown out, blinking slowly. "You can...can make fire? Burn things?" And not burn himself...the flame had been dancing around his hand, if she'd done that, it would have hurt.
She glanced up at him again, biting her lip afresh at his words. She should have expected, that, really. It was the logical thing to request, and the logical reason behind showing her something that must be a secret. And she couldn't really lie and say no, after everything they'd said, could she? So after a moment, she swallowed, and nodded, whispering quietly. "S-someone might notice...I can't...control it, like that..."
Or could she? He'd made it look easy, lighting that. Perhaps...perhaps she could control something that easily. It couldn't hurt to try...and the tourists around wouldn't suspect anything. They'd be too busy running for shelter if she did it right. She closed her eyes, breathing out slowly, searching in her mind for how she could do this. The wall between her thoughts and the feelings she so often managed to keep buried tapped at her consciousness, and after a moment's pause, she lowered it for the first time, letting all the emotions rush to the forefront, making her body tingle. She focussed though, because she couldn't let just anything happen...and pictured the rain. She did love the rain. The wind picked up around them, swirling out in a spiral, but Marie didn't notice. Nor did she notice the large black clouds which suddenly appeared, sprialling out from around the top of their tree, not until the first drop of rain hit the tip of her nose. Then she opened her eyes, and tilted her head back, looking up at the now swirling, purple sky.
That was the only rain drop to fall around them though. Perhaps just because she didn't want to get wait...but when the rain started falling properly, it left a circle of space around them. She didn't really want to get wet, after all. Her dress would probably turn see-through.
"I don't feel it..." she remarked softly, as if talking to herself, reaching out to run a hand through the wall-like sheet of rain, ringing them, before drawing it back to her, turning it over in her hand as the rain started to die down again as she just thought it to. "It just...happens..."

She was obviously very surprised by this new development, this new power that he had revealed to her. There was no going back now. She obviously knew something about the storm, and Evan could only hope that she would tell the truth and reveal it to him. He needed to know more about the storm, and if he had to take a few risks to do so, then that was necessary. if she had got a power though, it clearly wasn't making things burn and controlling fire. She wouldn't have been so surprised if it was. What could it be then? Evan thought, although truly he already was almost sure what it was. Weather. He nodded slowly, throwing the now singed blades of grass down on the earth. The heat which had been building up was gone now, and he was as he had been, just fine. a lot calmer, to."Uhuh... I can... Uh, set things on fire. extinguish it. it doesn't hurt me," [/b] he told her, his voice low and quiet so the people in the park (for it was picking up a bit now) wouldn't hear their conversation. "It's hard to control it.. often i can't tell when i'm going to blow, but if i'm lucky i can sorta'... direct it, i guess. It's worse when i'm angry.."[/b] he trailed off. he tended to get angry a lot, which made it worse. he hadn't got angry with Marie so far, since she'd been perfectly reasonable and lovely, but he knew that there was a high chance he'd probably burn something else today, and it wouldn't be as disposable as a few blades of grass.Evan waited, and in time he came to see a performance of her own power. And it was fantastic. It seemed like Marie's power was even more powerful than his own, should she learn to control it properly. At the moment, it looked as if she wasn't very good with it, that it controlled her more than the other way around.Well, it was sort of like that with him to - Evan supposed. He looked out at the rain that was falling. And yet, it wasn't falling around them. Like the wind, it had only affected a small area. That couldn't be natural - it was definitely Marie who was doing this! "...That is amazing,"[/b] he said, excitedly standing up and touching where the rain began. His hand became wet in a second, and he shook it, brushing off the droplets of water. "If it affected us, then how many other people now have powers?"[/b] he wondered out loud, then turned to Marie. He wondered whether she thought about this sort of stuff.[/blockquote][/sub]sorry for the shortness xD

No...It hadn't really looked like it had hurt him, but fire was an uncontrollable feature, to her. it was nature, and nature was wild and angry and could damage people...But then again, Marie had always considered weather to be alien. Before all this...she had loved the rain, and the weather was something her father had adored, but it had been nature. It had changed around her, like Mother Nature's emotions, only now...apparantly they were her emotions. She wasn't sure how to react or even think about that.
She bit down on her lip, looking up at him. "I can imagine that it wouldn't be such a good thing to have if you get angry. I mean...fire can hurt people, can't it?" But so could the weather. How many people died every year because of storms and snow and hurricanes and floods? Nature was a killer, so these powers...they couldn't be a completely good thing, could they? She was thinking about it too much now, more than she had done before. But it was...nice. It was nice to be able to talk about it with someone like her. With anyone, actually. She was having a conversation, a nice conversation, with a nice person. The thought had only just really hurt her...
Marie smiled, sitting up straighter and suddenly looking more relaxed with that knowledge. It was like the wall she had broken down in her mind to show him, had built back up, but locked away only the bad emotions. Now, she was just feeling rather happy. "Thank you," she said, smiling properly for the first time.
"Statisically, it's highly probable that more than two people in London were affected. I was using my...my f-father's notes to research the storm. It only hit london, apparantly. But...do you think they are random? Scientifically...none of this should have been possible..So I'm not really sure."

Evan almost laughed, nodding his head. Saying that fire could harm people was a bit of an understatement do be honest. Fire could kill. Fire was obliteration, and could turn anything in it's path to ashes. Well, barring a load of things like water, but that wasn't important and he planned very much on ignoring it. Fire was all powerful.
"Yeah.. I mean, i haven't hurt anyone yet, but it's scary you know? The fact i get angry easily hardly helps,"
[/b] he said, not being able to remember whether or not he had said that before. If he had, it probably wouldn't matter anyway. Evan nodded, agreeing. If the two of them had been affected, that meant it wasn't just one person, and it was more random than that. Anyone outside during the storm could have been caught in it, struck by that strange lightning through the mammoth hailstones (the term 'hail boulders' might be more accurate) which in turn meant that there must be far more people about London. From what he'd heard, the storm had only just been in London, so there wouldn't be any other people outside the city with their.. uh, conditions. That brought on another thought. What if the government tried to use them as like a super secret spy army on other countries so they could reinstate the british empire? How awesome would that be!? Thinking again, evan quickly changed his mind. it wasn't the life for him. "It is all.. really, really crazy stuff,"[/b] he said to himself quietly, though loud enough for Marie to hear as well. He wondered if she knew anyone else who might have powers. Nah, surely she would have told him if she did. "This has definitely given me a lot to think about.."[/b] he said. He wondered for a moment if it was time to leave. he needed to think about all this, rearrange his thoughts about the storm. If he was right, and there were a lot more people with powers around, then London would never be the same again. Trouble was coming. A storm. A crazy, metaphorical storm unlike anything Marie could possibly bring about. This meant danger. He could have all the firepower in the world, and that wouldn't save him. "I... I need to go,"[/b] he said quickly, standing up and brushing off his trousers. "I'll find you online.. I'll probably want to meet up with you another time, legendary power holders like us gotta' stick together,"[/b] he grinned, trying to lighten the atmosphere of his leaving a little. "And i'm really sorry, and it was great talking to you, but I need some time alone.. to think,"[/b] he said, stammering a little as he spoke. With that said, he turned around, and dahsed out the park. Away from Marie. Of course, he wasn't lying. He would be contacting her again. He just needed some time alone. If he didn't, he might end up hurting someone. And he could never forgive himself if he did that. [[EXIT]] [/sub][/blockquote][/justify] Sorry, thought i'd move on now if that's alright ;D hopefully they'll see each other again soon though :)

"No, that mustn't help at all!" Marie said, blinking rapidly. Anger and fire...anger controlling fire...that was dangerous. No matter how beautiful fire was, it was dangerous. It was wild, and shouldn't be contained...but then, so was the weather. Which was why she was still a little sceptical about all this. There was no science, no facts, to back any of this up, it was...unheard of.
And stranging exciting.
I need to go..." Marie blinked again. And then nodded, lowering her head. It didn't feel so bad, being left again. She was used to it, after all, and he was saying goodbye in a rather friendly way. It didn't need to hurt so much, but then again, she was Marie DeLabou - crybaby and emotional champion. It...well, not that Marie was one to use slang at all, or even understand it, but basically? It sucked.
"Oh...yes, of course. And that...would be nice, thanks," Power holder's like us gotta' stick together... Maybe this wasn't all bad and frightening. Maybe...having powers could be something that could actually lead to her meeting new people. Like Evan, and others. Perhaps being made different, but different with other people and not different, freakily different, on her own, as she already was...perhaps that could lead to friends. It wasn't a totally impossible idea, was it? No...Marie was logical, and it seemed...if what he said was true, that it was an idea. And she smiled, even as he stood up to leave.
The smile did fade slightly as he moved away, stammering (nervous? Afraid? She didn't know), and then ducked her golden-brown head again, moving to pick up her abandonded school books. She wasn't in the mood to work now though, for once. She, like he'd said, had too much to think about.
