He was certainly surprised when she started singing. Wow. What a weird, surreal experience. He'd never actually known anyone to burst into song randomly. Of course, in his career as a closet non-manly movie watcher, he'd seen it happen a few times in the films, but never would he have expected it to happen in real life. He smiled sheepishly and sat back into his chair, shoving the last bite of Panini into his mouth. He looked around, seeing people were staring. He felt a little embarrassed to be honest. The other questions however, were normal and passed quickly. He was relieved when she said that she wanted flight. If she'd said she liked blowing things up, then he would have been concerned and started wondering if she to had been given some sort of fire control by the storm. Thinking about it though, a smile spread across his face. flying would be lovely. He imagined soaring through the skies. It'd be great. Very calming to. That'd be a good way to stop him getting his whole world burned down in flames.
He got a bit worried when she started talking about telling him some sort of secret. His worries about her knowing about the storm came back, and he started to shake slightly. What if she did know about the storm? Would she tell anyone? Uh, well actually that was a silly thought. Of course she'd know about the storm - everyone in London did. After all, it had caused millions of pounds worth of damage to private and public properties alike. The thing people knew less about was what the storm had done to him. And maybe to others to. It had let him blow stuff up. He wasn't sure if others could blow stuff up to, and control the tongues of the flames, for he'd met that guy - tristan - on a chatroom who said he couldn't do that, but that he knew something about the storm as well. Which meant he'd probably been effected. and if he didn't have a form of fire control, then that meant he was probably able to do something else. Maybe the storm had done all sorts of things to the people of London. it was impossible to say really. The fact you could control fire and blow things up wasn't something you went about flaunting if you valued your freedom.
"Uh... Y-Yeah, go ahead. I can keep a Secret,"
[/b] he said quietly, hoping it wasn't what he thought it was. Worry surged through him, and it only took a moment for him to realise it was too late. His eyes shimmered, orange and yellow light dancing across them for a moment. They were visible if you looked, but they weren't something that would attract attention. He knew what was coming, but he knew also that there was nothing he could do. Trying to stop it would only draw attention to himself. On a nearby table, a napkin burst into flame. There was no one sitting there, and on the clear glass table it withered away quickly, turning to ash. a lucky escape, it was. Nothing damaged, save for a few marks on the table. Everyone was looking over though, so Evan followed suit, pretending to fit in. "Um, what was that?!"[/b] he said, trying to sound surprised and confused. [/blockquote][/sub]

((OOC; sorry for short reply :3)) Gravity, don't mean too much to me [glow=Orange,1,400]Is this our destiny?[/glow]
This world is after me, after you. Gasping, and jumping slightly in her seat, she eyed the flames wearily, and after a couple of seconds they extinguished. Furrowing her brows, she listened to people whispering about it for a couple of minutes. Iona's hands were shaking on the table, and she slipped them underneath, clutching at the loose end of the cloth that covered the wooden surface. She didn't know wether she should tell him or not. If she did, she would sound like a freak who needed a visit to the asylum, and if she didn't, she would still look like a freak for, like, wasting time. Or something. Entwining the soft fabric in her fingers, her grey eyes caught his gaze again, and she opened her mouth to speak, but the words were caught in her throat. With the hand that wasn't playing with the table cloth, she reached up and ran it through her locks. When her voice decided to work again, She averted her gaze, suddenly deciding her orange juice was more interesting. "Urm.. remember that storm, 'couple of weeks back?" Her voice was soft of quiet, and she bit the inside of her lip. Well, there was no turning back now. "I.. I think it did s-something to me," she was stuttering slightly, her accent slurring the words together and making them almost inaudible. The volume of her voice dropped even more, when she finally looked away from her glass of orange and back at him. "Evan. I think that storm did something to my genes. I think it made me control water," She waited. Waited to hear the scraping of his chair against the floor, for the footsteps to walk out of the door. For the names that were surely going to come out of his mouth. She felt like a freak. She couldn't believe she'd told someone, nevermind someone she'd just known for maybe forty five minutes at most. Releasing the cloth from the tight grip of her hand, she moved it up and rubbed her temples in a circular motion, as if to try and sooth herself. Taking deep breaths, she looked back up at him, her normally cheery and sarcastic gaze tinged with worry. Run away, like it was yesterday [glow=Orange,1,400]And we could run away[/glow] Run away from here [/font]

Evan froze, and listened intently. It worried him that she hadn't really responded at all to what had happened to him - or rather to the napkin on the other table. The staff had just realised, and a rather befuddled waitress wandered out, cleaning it up with a wet cloth. Evan wasn't paying so much information to her though. After all, what could possibly be important about that when all this other stuff was going on. Whatever she was about to tell him - Iona that is - it was going to be very important.
He nodded at the mention of the storm. of course he remembered. How could he possibly have forgotten the storm? After what it had done to him, he wasn't sure he would ever forget about that fateful day when he'd run out of the Café to get his jacket. Just to think, if he only had not done that one simple action, he wouldn't know anything about powers now. Nothing.
Something had happened to her.
"Go on.."
[/b] he said, still unsure quite what was about to happen. Nothing could be certain now. He didn't see it coming, when she finally said it. Water control. it made sense, her being a swimmer and all. Only thing was, that meant they were like... Opposites? Something like that. Pyrokinesis, and Aquakinesis. Which one would win in a fight anyway? Not that he wanted to fight her - he was just interested. In fact, he was so surprised by her power that he didn't speak for a few minutes, just sat there thinking about all the different possibilities and such. They could totally steam some vegetables if they put their powers together. "Aqua.."[/b] he whispered to himself, still not quite believing it, even though it made more and more sense the more he thought about it. She was a swimmer. She liked water. Evan didn't like water, he was a little afraid of it even. Drowning must be the worst death possible. Then again, he couldn't burn, so it was different to him. He imagined being burned alive wasn't best pleasant either. "I suppose i should tell you to then,"[/b] he continued slowly, unsure about what he was supposed to do. How many people was he going to tell about this anyway? "...Fire."[/b] he said simply. it was all he could say for now. To tell the truth, he was a little bit scared. [/sub][/justify][/blockquote] sorry it's a little short :c

Gravity, don't mean too much to me [glow=Orange,1,400]Is this our destiny?[/glow]
This world is after me, after you. He didn't walk out, which surprised Iona. As he started speaking, her head whipped up. Finishing his word, she spoke quietly. "Aquakinesis," Iona picked up her Jack Wills jumper and shoved it on, forgetting and then ignoring the fact that is was wet. Her fingers tightly gripped the end of the sleeves and she looked at him. He was completely different from her. Evan was just him, she supposed. There wasn't really a way to describe him. Whereas, she could come up with a million ways to describe herself. Both positive and negative. Her moods changed as quick as lightning, and just as she caught his eye, the flashback of how she got her power covered her gaze. She could have missed training. It was only one day. But no, she just had to go, didn't she? If she didn't go, she wouldn't have the power. The one thing she was paranoid about, was at the Olympics, when they tested her to see if she was on drugs, they would noice something wrong with her genes. The storm must have done something to change them. Her mouth dropped open slightly, as he started to speak. 'I suppose I should tell you, then' She sort of knew what was coming. It was a little bit obvious. Her eyes widened slightly, as he said the one word. Fire. In her own eyes, she found that water overcame fire. Water is used to put fires out. Fire can't do anything to water, apart from boil it. She blinked a couple of time, unsure if she should believe him or not. "Are you being serious?" She furrowed her brows slightly and scrunched her nose, a habbit she did when she was thinking. She pushed the pasta and juice away from her and pulled her her purse from her bag. Quickly taking out twenty pounds, she stood up and looked back at Evan. "For some reason, I'm not hungry anymore," She said softly, walking over to the waitress. She didn't want to wait for a bill. She handed her some money and signed something kinda thing, and then started walking to the exit. As she reached the door, Iona turned around and faced him. Clicking her tongue on the roof of her mouth, she tapped her foot impatiently. Iona didn't want to talk in public, she couldn't shake off the feeling they were being watched. She'd rather talk somewhere more private. Iona was scared of being put in an asylum, or being tooken away and tested on. Or being accused of cheating at her swimming. She quirked an eyebrow, waiting for him to come. She assumed he would, it wasn't everyday that you met someone else with a superpower.[/sup] Run away, like it was yesterday [glow=Orange,1,400]And we could run away[/glow] Run away from here [/font]

Of course, Evan was mightily surprised when she left. Of all the reactions to his power, he hadn't seen that coming. For one thing, they were opposites. That was totally awesome in itself. They were like, Aqua boy and Lava Shark or whatever that poorly funded and even more poorly written movie had been called. Together they could have made an awesome crime fighting team.
Sighing, he shoved a couple of chips into his mouth. They were the last ones, so he stood up. Should he go after her? He wasn't sure. He didn't want to upset her. She certainly seemed upset. Why did she get so upset anyway?
That whole crime fighting thing was an interesting thought however. He sat down for a moment longer, not realising that Iona was probably getting away. He was too caught up in his thoughts. He was like the human torch! He could set himself on fire, probably. He hadn't tried it, but he probably could, and it wouldn't hurt him. Or probably, it would be better if he set the criminals on fire. He'd totally get like, a nobel prize or something.
Then he remembered the whole government thing again. Yeah.. If he revealed himself like that, he'd probably get carted off for investigations. And they'd torture him, and they'd find out about Marie, and Iona.
Ah. Iona. He should probably go after her. Leaping to his feet with a loud clang, he smiled sweetly at the waitress, and dashed out the Café, looking around the street to see where Iona was.
He couldn't see her at first, so chose a random direction and dashed down the street, where he saw her.
"Hoi! Iona! Wait up!" [/b] he shouted after her, dashing towards her and only slowing when he got up next to her. "Hi!"[/b] he grinned broadly. "So.. uh, Fire and Water. Pretty weird, huh?"[/b] he said, pulling a face as they continued to walk onwards. [/sub][/blockquote]

Gravity, don't mean too much to me [glow=Orange,1,400]Is this our destiny?[/glow]
This world is after me, after you. Keeping her gaze on the ground, Iona kept walking. She had no idea if Evan was gonna catch up with her, but she kept walking anyway. Taking her phone out the small shoulder bag, she clicked the middle button, only to remember it was out of charge. She swore loudly, earning some looks from locals, and muttered under her breath in Welsh. "Wrth gwrs, byddai allan ac am ddim, ni fyddai hynny?" Clicking the phone again in frustration, again to no avail, she hardly heard Evan. She turned around to him, half surprized that he was there. Having just spoken her native tongue, her mind was still in Welsh mode. "Hi yno, Evan," Her tone was soft and slightly weak, now. Shaking her head, she corrected herself. "Hi there, Evan," She gave a weak smile. A minute ago, she was frustrated. It wasn't her fault, though, that her emotions were messed up. It wasn't her fault she had been diagnosed as being bipolar. Running a hand through her hair again, she groaned. "Ya think? Just a tad weird, you know. Because normal people can do them things!" Her words were dripping with sarcasm and her tone was more harsh than she had intended. "Sorry," she appologised. "It's a bit... frustrating. You know? Dealing with this whole power thing, and trying to find out you it works, and training and uni. I actually think I'm gonna give up Uni. I don't have time. If swimming don't work, then I'll become a criminal," She laughed codly, only half joking. Thrusting her hand in her pockets, as the breeze was stinging them and making them turn red and cold, she started walking again, slower so Evan could catch his breath. Scuffing her High Top's on the ground with every step she took, she refused to look him in the eye. She was starting to feel faint, and she could feel a migrane coming on. After a couple of minutes of walking in silence, she turned to him, placing her hand on his arm for support as the world span slightly. She managed to stay focused, and then finally looked at him. "Show me," she whispered. "Your power, show me how it works,"Pausing, she then laughed. "If someone overheard that, it would sound so wrong. If they didn't know what we're talking about," Blinking again to focus, she noticed a bench a couple of metrers away. It was a good thing they placed them in the middle of the streets. Setting herself down on the wooden bench, she rubbed her temples again. There wasn't much you could do to stop a migrane once it had started. It would pass in a couple of minutes. They normally did. But, then again, there were the odd ones that lasted ours. The headaches weren't constant, but she did get then quite a lot, due to the stress of what she was carrying on her shoulders. Ignoring the throbbing sensation in her head, she looked at the boy. "Are there others? Others like us?"Run away, like it was yesterday [glow=Orange,1,400]And we could run away[/glow] Run away from here [/font]

Evan was a little worried when Iona started shouting at him. what right did she have to shout at him. What had he done, anyway? Ugh. He didn't need all this sarcasm, not now. Her voice was dripping with the stuff, and even Evan, who didn't always understand the particular branch of 'humour'.
"Shut up!"
[/b] he snarled back. "There's no need to get bitchy with me, it's not my fault this is happening,"[/b] he muttered disapprovingly. He was about to continue and shout back, when she apologised. He stopped, thinking for a moment. No. Usually he wouldn't have thought, he would have gone ahead and continued the argument, but in this case he decided to think about it. Iona was one of the only power holders he knew - the two of them were oddities in society, misfits even. "I.. I'm sorry to,"[/b] he said. "We're going to need to stick together if we want to survive this... I have a feeling our.."[/b] he struggled for a moment, forcing himself to say it, "...Powers, aren't going to just lay quiet while we live normal lives.."[/b] he said slowly. He was displeased when she said she might just go and become a criminal. Criminals were bad. Crime was bad. He raised an eyebrow, not getting that this was a joke. "A Criminal, really?"[/b] he asked, pulling a disappointed face. "I'm using mine to stop crime, personally.."[/b] he said, saying his plans out loud. He'd been planning to do so ever since he found out there were others with powers. He doubted any others would go for crime fighting, so the task would have to fall to him. She asked then if there were others like them, and Evan nodded slowly. He turned around to face the city streets, in the direction of the Cathedral. "Yep.. Whatever that damned storm was, we weren't the only ones caught in it. Whatever it did to us, it did it to others as well. Fire, Water - they're ours alone, but there's other people out there to. Weather control, time travel, i bet there's all sorts of people right now, wandering about somewhere. And they're just as confused about it all as we are.."[/b] he trailed off, then fell into silence, and turned back to Iona. "I.."[/b] He stopped, wondering what to say. What was there to say, after all? He continued carefully, not even sure if he believed what he was saying. "We both got our powers for a reason.. Perhaps you're meant to go on to become a famous swimmer. And me? Well, what can you do with fire? Maybe i'll become a famous arsonist.."[/b] he said, dropping his head a little. Gravity, don't mean too much to me [glow=Orange,1,400]Is this our destiny?[/glow]
This world is after me, after you. (OOC; Sorry for the short reply, yet again. I've become stubborn ;D)) Iona traced her hand over the arm of the bench and then looked up at Evan, her eyes wide and innocent. "Did you honestly believe that? That I would become a criminal? Do I look like a criminal?" She scrunched her nose, thinking. She realised that she would soon have to go to university soon. Or she could skive, it wasn't as if she would be learning anything important. She could tell them that she had extra swimming practise. They would believe her, as she often got extra training at odd times. One thing she was certain of, was that she couldn't tell them that she was staying off because she had a superpower. They would send her to away to a hospital, to the mental ward. And that thought was scary enough in itself. What if the government already knew about the powers? And they were searching for people who had them, and would experiment on them, treat like livestock. Like they weren't worth anything. Shaking the thought out of her head, she then stood up, placing a hand comfortingly on Evan's shoulder. "Look at me, Evan. You will not become an arsonist. There'll be some great use of your power, and we'll find that out, ok? We will. Anyway, I might not manage to become a swimmer. What if they test me, and see something wrong with my genes that the storm caused? Then they'll accuse me of cheating, which I sort of am doing. I can't really control my power all too well,"She closed her eyes for a moment, but then opened them. "I want to meet them, the others. I want to know what power they have, and what they are going to do now that they have it. All of us, we could help people, we could!" After a moment, she realised how stupid that had sounded, and dropped her hand from his shoulder, letting it dangle uselessly by her side. Evan laughed, shaking his head and wondering how he could have believed that Iona would become a criminal. He was just really gullible, and had believed her. He smiled, and explained to her that he didn't really think she would, not now that he thought about it properly. having done that, he nodded again and listened to what she had to say.
"I know, i know. Maybe I can set criminals on fire or something,"
[/b] he joked, not yet realising how close this was to the ever closer truth that would soon come into being. See, although evan had not realised it yet, and still would not until a time after he came into contact with a certain young telekinetic, he would one day soon start to use his powers for the good of mankind. Or at least, he'd give it his best shot. The thought of having his genes probed and tested and all that made Evan shiver, and he shook his head at the notion. "You really think they'd be able to find that in our genes?"[/b] he asked, a little crestfallen. From what he'd learned in GCSE biology, your genes stayed pretty much the same from birth to death, even if your phenotype might change slightly, your physical appearance. Could those fateful bolts of lightning really have changed them that much, that it edited the information that made them exactly who they were? It was terrifying to think about. "Besides, they only do drugs testing, right? If it's in your genes, they can't blame you for it - you're not exactly cheating, right?"[/b] he said, shrugging. it was probably right. As far as he knew, no athletes ever had to undergo a test of their genes. If an athlete was taking steroids, that was a different matter, but they couldn't kick someone out for having a gene for extra long legs, and big muscles - right? "Y'know what, Iona? I think you're right. We could help people. Fight fire with fire. Or water, in your case. I mean, obviously your swimming comes first, but it wouldn't hurt to high-pressure wash a few criminals into submission, right?"[/b] he asked, shrugging. that reminded him, and he thought for a minute, then asked. "Aqua.. what exactly can you do with it, anyway? Like, shoot blasts of water and stuff, or just become extra-awesome when in the water?"[/b] he asked, unsure quite as to what 'Aquakinesis' entailed. After all, Pyrokinesis to was a very broad term, and as he would later learn, just because he wasn't the only one with firepower, he was still the only one who did exactly what he did best now; sending things up in flames, burning them into the ashes. Gravity, don't mean too much to me [glow=Orange,1,400]Is this our destiny?[/glow]
This world is after me, after you. Iona chuckled under her breath as she imagined the picture of a criminal running around with flames billowing from his jacket. Thrusting her hands in her hoodie pockets to keep them warm, she let out a breath that she hadn't even noticed she had been holding. Cocking her head slightly, she gave a loose shrug. "I don't know. Probably. That storm did some crazy shit to us. If you can manipulate fire, god knows what it did to your body to make you do that, and the same to me. I don't even know if they look at your genes, but I guess you're right, there is nothing I can do about them so..." She trailed off. Dropping her gaze and scuffing her Hi-tops off of the ground again, she clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth. "But if you do think about it, though, I am cheating. I have an advantage the other swimmers don't have. It's unfair to them, and it's not a fair race." She looked up and caught Evan's eye. "I.. I'm not sure if I can go to the Olympics. I'm cheating, even when I don't want to. I can't control my power very well and I don't know if I could live with the fact that, if I won, I did not win fairly. That I won purely because of my power,""Besides," She continued, a sly grin toying at the edges of her mouth. "If I don't swim, then I'll help you with saving London from robberies and such." A chuckle rolled off of her tongue. "In all seriousness, I will help you. It could be fun. We could find those others with powers, and be, like, I dunno.. what were they called again? Oh, yeah, the Fantastic four! I could try and fit it with my swimming, 'cause to be honest, I'm not doing much with university, either."Pausing momentarily, she swore under her breath. "Crap. I forgot, I still have to go to uni. Give me your phone," She extended her arm, her palm facing upwards. "I ain't gonna steal it, just put my number in. My phones out of charge, so text me later, so I've got yours,"Run away, like it was yesterday [glow=Orange,1,400]And we could run away[/glow] Run away from here [/font]

The fantastic four, huh? Evan hadn't seen the first one, but the second one hadn't been one of his favourite movies of all time. of course, sequels were generally worse, so perhaps the fantastic four weren't too bad at all. He shrugged. If he was going to mimic superheroes, they wouldn't be his first choice, despite there being a 'human torch' in that group who was sort of like him, in a way.
He thought about the whole olympics thing. he hadn't thought of it that way. he didn't really think of it as cheating to be perfectly honest, as his definition would have been doing something specifically to get above the competition - not if it was something you couldn't control. Like he said, people like Usain Bolt had more powerful legs, but that wasn't his fault, so he could hardly be called a cheat. Having said that, he could see where iona was coming from. Their super powers were a bit more than what would be available naturally, after all.
he shrugged it off, saying "Yeah, i guess you're right,"
[/b] it would be nice that someone might join him in his crime fighting, anyway. He smiled at her, and wondered how many people were still out there with superpowers that they just hadn't found yet. There could be hundreds of them. There had been people out in the storm who had remained unaffected of course, but he hadn't met many of them. Indeed, maybe they did have some sort of power, they just hadn't realised it yet. With things like Immortality, or the ability to speak to rare species in the heart of the amazon, it was difficult to even realise you had a power without being put in a mightily unpleasant situation, in which case you would probably much rather forget both the unpleasant situation and your super power, and return to your normal life as a normal person in your normal circumstances. By any rate, it was easy to see why superpowers weren't always a good thing. He nodded again, acknowledging that Iona had to leave for uni. It must have been tough, keeping up with so much stuff. He took the phone number, and with a smile offered his own in return, so that the two of them could keep in touch. Though they were fire and water, elemental opposites, he could see them becoming good friends. "I'll.. Seeya around, Iona,"[/b] he said, a quaint smile on his face. he liked this girl. He would certainly want to see her again, by any means. Having got the means of communication, he allowed her to leave, and left himself, wandering away from the Café, and the Cathedral, and from the person who would later become a good friend of his. It had been a productive day, for the universe.
